Mechanical Assembler - Tier I

Primary responsibilities of this position include introduction to assembly processes on automation projects. This position must have a good working knowledge in the use of precision hand tools and measuring equipment and have the ability to do assembly work on automation projects with limited supervision.

Essential Job Functions (Fundamental job duties):

  • Work closely with Tier II and Senior Mechanical Assemblers and be guided to perform assembly work on automation projects to print specifications
  • Ability to work with project team members in order to complete work on time and under budget
  • Ability to do plumbing (hydraulic, pneumatic, or lube) to print specifications
  • Ability to use the necessary precision equipment/tools as required and assist in the build of automation equipment
  • Ability to be guided in the use other tools, i.e., manual mill and lathe to produce quality parts to print specifications
  • Participate in the debug and customer runoff activities of automation equipment
  • Participate in project/floor meetings and assist in maintaining the whiteboard issues list

Marginal Job Functions (Non-fundamental job duties):

  • Participate in, observe, and work closely with Tier II and Senior Assemblers on a field service call as required
  • Learn and be able to perform assembly processes
  • Perform other jobs in the plant as required by the supervisor
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills

Education (What is the minimum education level necessary to complete the essential functions of the position?)

  • High School or equivalent
  • Solid math background and skills
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation skills
  • Working knowledge of the machinability of metals
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerances

Experience (What is the minimum experience necessary to complete the essential functions of the position?)

  • Minimum two years of machining background
  • Skills in the use of precision hand tools and measuring equipment
  • Machine/equipment set up experience preferred, but not required

Mandatory Qualification Requirements (What are the mandatory qualification requirements for the position?)

  • Mathematical background and capability to interpret and read blueprints in order to perform necessary functions of machine operation and machining of parts
  • Physical attributes to perform job functions
  • The ability to follow direction and work with limited supervision
